As far as sharpness goes, the Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 III starts very sharp wide-open at f/2.8, becoming razor-sharp between f/5.6 and f/11. Apertures smaller than f/16 start suffering from diffraction. On the other hand, the Canon 16-35mm f/4 IS starts much softer than its faster sibling, and never becomes as sharp.

The 16-35 f/2.8L III is similar to the Zeiss 15mm f/2.8 Classic Lens and the Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM Lens (at f/1.4) in this regard, but among the strongest vignetting lenses available. If the all wavelengths of light in the visible spectrum refracted identically, a lens designer's job would be a lot easier.

szkJ. Or with the difference in price between the 16-35mm 2.8 vs f4, you could buy the samyang 14mm and the 16-35mm f4 for a cheaper price than the single 2.8.
